The Tech is in... Russell Weisenbacher grew up in Remsenburg and attended Westhampton Beach High School. After graduating from Emerson College in Boston with a degree in Communications, Russell relocated to the Manorville area and started his computer/technology business, Russ The Computer Guy. Russell has been repairing, installing, and maintaining computers, as well as providing instruction on their use since 1987. Locally, in Quogue, Russell also has been involved, for the past 35 years, with the Quogue Junior Theater Troupe under the direction of Suzanne Prior as their Technical Director. Russell is proud to be a part of the Quogue Library family and looks forward to all the exciting technological challenges and opportunities that await him.


Creating a Resume using MS Wordcomputer
Saturday, April 25, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Fee: $5 out of district

This class will teach participants how to create a resume using MS Word.  Participants will be shown a variety of templates available to them both within MS Word and from Microsoft’s template collection online.  Students should bring resume information including employment and education history and reference contacts.

IMPORTANT Prerequisites:  Students must be familiar with using a mouse, keyboard, the Internet, and most importantly, participants must be familiar with a basic understanding of MS Word before taking this class.


How to Buy the Right Computer
Saturday, May 23, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Fee: $5 out of district

Learn how to find the right computer for you or your family member! Desktop, laptop, tablet, and netbook considerations are discussed.  Learn what you need to know to make an informed purchase. Find out what all the terms and options mean and what you really need in a computer system to be happy, safe, and productive.  Discover how to compare systems and find the best deals.

Prerequisites:  None. (The class is for all levels of computer users, whether it’s your first computer or your next.)


Internet Safety
Saturday, June 13, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Fee: $5 out of district

This is one of our most popular presentations and in light of recent data breaches and identity theft information in the news, this presentation is more timely than ever.  This presentation will provide participants with information to help avoid the many scams, frauds, and cheats out on the Internet.  Additionally, participants will learn about viruses/malware; how to protect against infections; and more. 

Prerequisites: None.  (This class is open to all.  Bring your questions.)


Exploring the Free Online Database, Magazine, & Newspaper Collection at Live-brary
Saturday, June 27, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Fee: $5 out of district

This class will demonstrate and educate participants on how to access the varied collection of free electronic versions of popular magazines (using Flipster) and the many free electronic versions of newspapers (domestic and international); additionally, participants will be shown the extensive collection of Live-brary’s databases on almost every subject imaginable.  NOTE: this class will reference and use the computer.  If a participant has an iPad, some items discussed will pertain, but others will not.

Prerequisites- Students must be familiar with using a mouse, keyboard, and the Internet.
