The Tech is in... Russell Weisenbacher grew up in Remsenburg and attended Westhampton Beach High School. After graduating from Emerson College in Boston with a degree in Communications, Russell relocated to the Manorville area and started his computer/technology business, Russ The Computer Guy. Russell has been repairing, installing, and maintaining computers, as well as providing instruction on their use since 1987. Locally, in Quogue, Russell also has been involved, for the past 35 years, with the Quogue Junior Theater Troupe under the direction of Suzanne Prior as their Technical Director. Russell is proud to be a part of the Quogue Library family and looks forward to all the exciting technological challenges and opportunities that await him.

This is one of our most popular presentations and in light of recent data breaches and identity theft information in the news, this presentation is more timely than ever. This seminar will provide participants with information to help avoid the many scams, frauds, and cheats out on the Internet. Additionally, participants will learn about viruses/malware, how to protect against infections; and more. This is a lecture/presentation. Participants will not be using lab computers. Prerequisites: None. (This class is open to all. Bring your questions.)

How to Buy the Right Computer or Tablet Device
Saturday, November 22, 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
Fee: $5 out of district

Learn how to find the right computer for you or your family member! Desktop, laptop, tablet, and netbook consideratio ns will be discussed. Learn what you need to know to make an informed purchase. Find out what all the terms and options mean and what you really need in a computer system to be happy, safe, and productive. Discover how to compare systems and find the best deals. This is a lecture/presentation. Participants will not be using lab computers. Prerequisites: None. (The class is for all levels of computer users, whether it’s your first computer or your next.)

What Can I Do With My Computer/Tablet?
Friday, December 26, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Fee: $5 out of district

This introductory session will cover the basics of what a person can actually do with a computer to be productive in his/her life. In today’s world, one must be online and increasingly more vendors/ utilities are requiring their customers to work online. This course will provide real world examples and also have a large question and answer session to help the participant become less fearful of the computer. This course will also touch on why tablets (iPad, Galaxy, etc.) are not good at certain online functions. Prerequisites: None.
