The Tech is in... Russell Weisenbacher grew up in Remsenburg and attended Westhampton Beach High School. After graduating from Emerson College in Boston with a degree in Communications, Russell relocated to the Manorville area and started his computer/technology business, Russ The Computer Guy. Russell has been repairing, installing, and maintaining computers, as well as providing instruction on their use since 1987. Locally, in Quogue, Russell also has been involved, for the past 35 years, with the Quogue Junior Theater Troupe under the direction of Suzanne Prior as their Technical Director. Russell is proud to be a part of the Quogue Library family and looks forward to all the exciting technological challenges and opportunities that await him.

Connect to the Online World – Computer Classes

Introduction to the new Windows - Windows 10computer
Saturday, October 24, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Fee: $5 out of district

Learn about the newest version of Windows (Windows 10). This presentation will demonstrate the newest features and help users understand the differences between it and previous versions of Windows. Articles in the press are overwhelmingly positive about this newest iteration of the Windows operating system and we will explore the most common applications and also talk about which computer(s) to buy.

Prerequisites: Participants must know or have worked with any previous version of Windows. (This class is open to all. Bring your questions.)

Exploring Your Macbook
Saturday, November 7, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Fee: $5 out of district

This workshop will demonstrate common features and settings that will help your Mac work more efficiently. We will also demonstrate simple techniques to keep your Mac running well and virus free. Bring your Macbook laptop with you to this workshop and follow along as we demonstrate.
Prerequisites: Participants must have a Mac computer and be somewhat familiar with it. (This class is open to all. Bring your questions.)

Internet Safety
Saturday, December 12, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Fee: $5 out of district

This presentation will provide participants with information to help avoid the many scams, frauds, and cheats out on the Internet. Additionally, participants will learn about viruses/malware; how to protect against infections; and more. This is a lecture/presentation. Participants will not be using lab computers.
Prerequisites: None. (This class is open to all. Bring your questions.)

Exploring Your Digital Libraryipad
Saturday, December 26, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Fee: $5 out of district

This class will demonstrate and educate participants on how to access the varied collection of free electronic versions of popular magazines (using Flipster) and the many free electronic versions of newspapers (domestic and international); additionally, participants will be shown the extensive collection of Live-brary’s databases on almost every subject imaginable. NOTE: This class will reference and use the computer. If a participant has an iPad, some items discussed will pertain, but others will not.
Prerequisites: Students must be familiar with using a mouse, keyboard, and the Internet.
